My Perfect at-home Bra July 26, 2010 Nightingale (USA) Barelythere Women's Microfiber Crop Top #103
I originally bought an Extra Large because I'm looking for something that doesn't constrict my ribcage. It WAS HUGE! But based on another review I decided to exchange it for a smaller size and went with, believe-it-or-not a size small. Perfect. It's like wearing nothing at all -- almost.
To explain, I'm not really what you would call a "plus-size" but I'm a little more ample than 5'3" would typically be. I have a horrible time finding bras that are big enough around for comfort, but otherwise average in size and shape. Even though my measurements say I should be a 36 or 38 C, those sizes are just too tight. I would like to feel well-groomed when at home, but the tight band on almost every bra I've tried makes a typical bra very uncomfortable. If I go large on the band size, the whole bra gets larger and doesn't fit at all (wrinkles, slipping straps, "folded" boobs, etc.) I've tried using those bra-extenders that extend the band size, but then the rest of the bra doesn't fit at all and the straps slip down constantly.
For me, this little bra is truly "barely there". It provides minimal (very minimal) support, but enough to help prevent chafing from sweat, and that floppy sensation that makes you feel fat and sloppy. I live in the desert southwestern USA where it is hot all year round and the typical "microfiber" bra is just too hot. Not this one. It is extremely light weight and filmy, plus it does not cover as much of your chest as the pictures seem to indicate.
If you are looking for a comfortable lounging at home bra that will help alleviate embarrassment should anyone drop in unexpectedly you'll love this one. (Just order it smaller than you think you need -- it's VERY stretchy. If your main goal is support or total coverage, try something else.
I just ordered 8 more -- at just over $8 with free shipping, I'll always have one available (not in the wash) and I'm going to try layering them to see if that gives any more support without the pinch.
Not an all day bra July 23, 2010 Melissa This is not a bra I would recommend for anyone that needs to wear their bra all day. The comfort is good for about 8 hours but after that its distracting. I am a solid 34-C and the Medium size that is recommended is too big, even on the smallest clasp. The material is soft enough but I felt as though I was wearing a nursing bra...I definetly did not feel attractive in it.
I received this as part of a promotion to sample the product via bzzagent.
Almost the best bra for me July 21, 2010 Karen S. Garvin (Maryland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My problem is that I detest bras but I need to wear something. I'm a fairly small woman with a short body, but I wear about a size 36D bra. I say "about" because bra sizes are so ridiculously complicated and difficult to fit if I try on more than one I'm trying on several sizes. I'm in the size range that goes from nice-looking garment to Clydesdale harness in one fell swoop. That's part of why I like these bras: there's no fuss trying to match the band size and cup size and getting both to work simultaneously.
These bras do not offer much support, although I could probably wear two of them but I haven't tried that. I wish the manufacturer would take this pattern and offer another model with some spandex or lycra to increase the support for us who need the support. Still, I'd rather have less support than to suffocate in a harness all day long. These bras launder well and don't require any special treatment.
Deceptive advertising July 10, 2010 C. B. Gurney (Washington, DC) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Up front: I do not own this product. It may be great. But I strenuously object to companies putting 'bait and switch' prices on their websites. The ad says this product is available for as low as $4.90. Actually, there is NO size or color sold at that price. The lowest price is $8.93. Shame on you, Barelythere. There is no reason to engage in this type of lying.
anything over an A cup and actually needing some support, forget it July 7, 2010 Sandra M. Brown (Concord, NC USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I agree with the other negative reviewers. This top is for the 20-somethings with perky little breasts who actually need no support. It is really not even suitable for running errands around town, let along yoga or other exercise. I'm a 36B and not particularly saggy but I do want to feel like something is holding me up.
